The person who has been most influential to my career path has been my mom. I have watched my mom take care of my Nanie, my grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimer's for several years until she passed away in 2020. Being able to experience the selflessness, kindness, and compassion my mom had for her mother, who sometimes did not always remember us, has helped shape me into the person I am today and the provider I hope to always be. She has shown me the importance of advocating for patients especially those who cannot advocate for themselves and this is something I will always carry with me!
Outside of work I enjoy reading, working in my garden, and spending time with my family.
During my rotation I worked alongside a PA in the emergency room at Buffalo General. These four weeks stand out to me the most when I reflect on my clinical year because my preceptor was one of the most thoughtful and caring PAs I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My preceptor always treated every patient like they were the most important patient he had no matter how big or how small the problem was. He did his absolute best to make every patient feel like they were important and you could see how much more comfortable each patient felt after speaking with him. He was able to help ease their worries when the wait time in the ER was long and went out of his way to speak with them even in the waiting room. Good quality healthcare helps build a trusting relationship between you and your patients which was clearly demonstrated throughout this entire rotation and I will be forever grateful that I was able to experience and learn from it.
