Who has been influential to you in your career?
My parents. They both worked incredibly hard to provide for my sister and I, and always pushed me to strive for excellence throughout my schooling. They instilled in me many values including hard work, respect, and empathy that pushed me towards a career in medicine.
Describe a time in your life when you experienced, or witnessed, the importance of good quality healthcare.
During a medical mission trip to Costa Rica in 2022, I saw so many people and families who had little to no access to healthcare in their community. Many of them relied on college groups who traveled there for their healthcare, and due to the COVID pandemic which canceled many medical mission trips many of the people I met had not received healthcare since the start of the pandemic. Even the smallest amount of healthcare and health literacy that we could pass along was incredibly appreciated.
