I obtained certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) in 2019. Since the fall of 2021, I have been providing maternity instruction in a clinical setting for nursing students as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for UB. In addition to my position at Neighborhood Health as an FNP, I currently work as a Maternity Clinical Educator at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. As a provider I am committed to compassionate care for the adult and pediatric populations and have experience with developmentally disabled patients, the LGBTQ+ population, treating patients with sexually transmitted infections, and managing PrEP and PEP.
There have been several influential nursing leaders during my nursing career. They were not only exceptional nurses, but also compassionate leaders who inspired those around them to strive for excellence in patient care. Their guidance and mentorship taught me the importance of empathy, resilience, and continuous learning in the nursing profession. Witnessing their dedication to improving healthcare outcomes left a lasting impression on me and fueled my determination to become a leader who can bring about positive change in people's lives through promoting good health.
Throughout my career in obstetrics, I've been privileged to witness countless moments that underscore the critical importance of top-notch healthcare, particularly in the realm of labor and delivery. One experience, in particular, serves as a poignant reminder of the life-saving impact that high-quality medical care can have on both mother and baby.
During a routine delivery, unforeseen complications arose, necessitating an emergency cesarean section to ensure the safety of both the mother and her unborn child. Despite the initial concerns and heightened emotions in the delivery room, our obstetrics team sprang into action with precision and efficiency. Through seamless coordination, we swiftly facilitated the cesarean delivery, welcoming a healthy baby into the world and ensuring the well-being of the mother.
This serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals to prioritize patient safety and well-being above all else. Now, as a primary care provider, I am deeply dedicated to upholding the same standard of excellence and compassion, ensuring that patients receive the highest caliber of care throughout health care journey.
My journey through education was marked by both challenges and unique opportunities that have profoundly shaped my approach to healthcare. Graduating with my Doctor of Nursing Practice during the pandemic presented unforeseen obstacles, yet it also fostered resilience and innovation in my educational experience.
Navigating the complexities of healthcare amidst a global crisis, I adapted to virtual learning environments and leveraged technology to bridge the gap created by the absence of in-person patient interactions. Despite the absence of real-life patient examinations, I remained steadfast in my commitment to acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in my field.
Outside of work, I find joy in sharing moments with my family and with my husband of 18 years and our 4 amazing children. Whether it's a stroll along the beach or basking in the beauty of nature outdoors, I relish every opportunity to connect with the world around me. Additionally, I find great pleasure in indulging in dinners and quality time with close friends.
