My mom was a nurse for over 40 years. As I was growing up, people in our town often stopped her in the grocery store or on the street to tell her how much her care meant to them and their families. It was impactful, and showed me first hand how one person can make a positive and lasting impact in other people's lives.
I enjoy reading. I am (very slowly) trying to read all of the Booker prize winners. I also like seeing new places, and spending time with my family
I've had the chance to have varied clinical experiences...working with providers practicing in rural, suburban and urban environments. I enjoyed learning about patients, their unique backgrounds and goals; and how to best support them as a their healthcare provider.
During COVID, I worked in a 25 bed critical access hospital in rural Nebraska. With fewer resources than larger cities, the hospital staff worked as a team; navigating through a challenging and unprecedented time in order to provide the best care possible. Being open, inclusive and adaptable as an organization allowed us to care for the members of our community holistically.
