Who has been influential to you in your career?
There have been many people who have been influential in my career path. My parents and husband who have constantly supported me, coworkers who have taught me, and supervisors who have encouraged me to pursue my career goals. Starting as a medical assistant in nursing school and working in a few different medical settings as a nurse have helped me grow.
When have you seen the impact that good quality healthcare can have?
At a previous workplace, patients would often have appointments several times a week. While this was often emotional for patients, many patients felt safe and supported with the staff. While we strive for positive health outcomes, it is equally important to have staff who are compassionate, kind, and have a trusting rapport with their patients.
What is something about your education experience that is unique?
I went on a study abroad trip to South Africa during my undergraduate program. I had many amazing experiences traveling to different areas of the country and enjoyed learning about South African history and culture.
