My graduate-level play therapy professor exposed me to new interventions that I fell in love with and helped me strengthen my passion for providing services and support to children and families. Her guidance and experience as a social worker created an incredible foundation grounded in trauma-informed care and cultural competency that I will use throughout my career.
I experience chronic migraines, so I understand the importance of good quality healthcare. Having a doctor who was patient and willing to answer questions about my treatment goals was paramount. The ability to ask questions and receive understandable information empowered me to make decisions about my healthcare management.
I was a dual-degree graduate student! While at the University at Buffalo, I was in the Master's of Social Work and Master's of Public Health programs. This exposed me to both social work and public health, allowing me to explore the cross-over between the two areas, have a deep understanding of social determinants of health, and strengthen my skills as a provider in a healthcare setting.
