Learn some easy tips and tricks for the whole family in honor of National Nutrition Month!
In honor of National Nutrition Month, meet some of our Registered Dietitians as they share tips for the whole family! Learn more about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.
Enjoy your food: eat slowly and, when you can, do it with company.
Start the day with a good breakfast!
Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day (one serving is about half a fruit, or half a cup of fruits or vegetables).
Plan family activities that involve movement. A trip to the park, a walk in a nice place you like, a bike ride, even daily activities such as cleaning the house, gardening can help increase physical activity and avoid a sedentary lifestyle. While it is enjoyed with family, it is shared, and bonds are strengthened.
Try to prefer water to other drinks. Remember water = good health!
Eat throughout the day! Try to eat every 4-5 hours to avoid overeating at meal time
Fill up on fiber- choose whole grains, fruits and vegetables for heart health, longer lasting energy and improved digestion.
Practice Mindfulness, eat slowly and really try to enjoy your food!
Instead of chips or sweets, snack on foods such as greek yogurt, fruit, string cheese and nuts!
Diets don't work! Restrictive diets such as the keto or atkins diet are not recommended and usually cause you to gain back the weight you lost. Meet with a dietitian nutritionist to learn how to make healthy lifestyle changes and reach your goals in a sustainable way!
