Neighborhood Health Center received funding as part of Gov. Cuomo award of $187 million to healthcare organizations for capital projects.
Neighborhood Health Center is pleased to announce funding in the amount of $7.676 million from New York State for facility improvements, declared by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
The awards are part of $187 million in funding for 25 capital improvement projects through the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program. This initiative is designed to improve patient care by developing high-quality medical facilities and programs serving the inpatient, primary care, mental health, substance use disorder and long-term care needs of communities throughout New York State.
Neighborhood Health Center, formerly known as Northwest Buffalo Community Health Care Center, was just one of two facilities in the Western New York region to receive this latest round of funding.
Project plans for Neighborhood Health Center include:
“We thank Governor Cuomo and the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program for supporting Neighborhood Health Center’s efforts in preserving access to high-quality primary healthcare for some of the most vulnerable in our community,” said Joanne Haefner, Chief Executive Officer for Neighborhood Health Center. “We are also appreciative of the elected officials and close partners who continued to advocate on our behalf.”
This funding assures Neighborhood Health Center is able to make the capital improvements and expand crucial primary care access at the Mattina office, where community need is exorbitant.
Neighborhood Health Center continues to move forward with meeting the pressing needs of the community through various expansion efforts over the past three years including: The Neighborhood Health Center Southtowns office relocation; expansions to Neighborhood Health Center at Blasdell; and recent additions at the organization’s Northwest office. “As we continue to ramp up to our growth, the additional space at Mattina is crucial to the organization’s strategic objectives and goals,” added Haefner.
Neighborhood Health Center has been a premier safety-net primary care provider in Western New York for more than 30 years and provides high-quality, cost-effective primary care (medical, dental, pharmacy, nutritional and behavioral health services) to all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Neighborhood Health Center is the family doctor to more than 26,000 Western New Yorkers.
