In honor of National Nutrition Month, read a brief Q&A from Neighborhood Health Center Registered Dietitian, Dana Ingebretson, MS, RD, CDN for some healthy tips and tricks.
Q: What is most rewarding about being a Dietitian here at NHC?
A: When a patient reaches a health goal and as a result, they feel more positive about themselves and what they can accomplish in life.
Q: Out of all the work that you do, what is your favorite thing to do as a dietitian?
A: Cooking classes and demos are great ways to show people new ways to enjoy food, I have a lot of fun doing those.
Q: What’s something about your career that many people may not know?
A: Being a dietitian doesn’t mean that I’m the “food police”! My main goal is to help people who want to improve their health and quality of life. I try to practice healthy eating habits but I also get excited about a new burger place or chicken wing recommendation!
Q: What is your favorite healthy snack?
A: Cashews and apples or string cheese and hummus are some of my current go-tos.
Q: What is your National Nutrition Month tip?
A: When it comes to healthier eating, focus on the long haul instead of the quick fix. Think about where you want to be in a year and consider what small changes you can implement that will help you get there!
