August 8-12, celebrating affordable, high-quality healthcare for everyone
Neighborhood Health Center is joining other health centers around the nation in celebrating National Health Center Week August 8-12, 2022. The nationwide network of health centers provides preventive and primary care services to more than 30 million people and have continued to do so throughout a global pandemic. National Health Center Week aims to raise awareness about, and celebrate the accomplishments of, health centers as solutions for affordable, high-quality healthcare for everyone.
Neighborhood Health Center is celebrating with Patient Appreciation Day activities and giveaways on Wednesday, August 10, 10:00am – 2:00pm at four Neighborhood locations:
• Blasdell – 4233 Lake Avenue, Blasdell
• Mattina – 300 Niagara Street, Buffalo
• Northwest – 155 Lawn Avenue, Buffalo
• Riverway – 1569 Niagara Street, Buffalo
The celebration continues on Thursday, August 11 with a Community Open House from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Neighborhood Health Center, Riverway – the newest Neighborhood location which opened in June 2022 at 1569 Niagara Street in Buffalo.
“Health centers, such as Neighborhood, are unique in that every day we set out to achieve health equity by treating the whole person with compassion and kindness with an integrated range of services located under one roof,” said Joanne Haefner, President and Chief Executive Officer for Neighborhood Health Center.
Along with primary care services (family/internal medicine, pediatrics, and OB-GYN) Neighborhood’s integrated care services include behavioral health, podiatry, dentistry, nutrition counseling, and pharmacy services.
The nation’s health centers have received longstanding bipartisan support from policymakers at all levels, and have compiled a significant record of success that includes:
• $24 billion healthcare system savings annually
• Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to emergency rooms
• Treating patients for a fraction of the average cost of an emergency room visit
• Administering more than 13 million COVID-19 vaccines
Neighborhood has served as the region’s leading primary care safety-net provider for 35 years and provides high-quality comprehensive healthcare services to all Western New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay. We have six locations in Western New York – four in Buffalo, one in Blasdell and one in Hamburg – plus a mobile unit. Neighborhood is the oldest and largest Federally Qualified Health Center in the region and currently the primary care home to more than 28,000 Western New Yorkers.
