One of the greatest influences on my career has been the physicians and advanced practice providers I've worked alongside throughout my nursing and nurse practitioner journey. They believed in me before I fully believed in myself. They encouraged me to continue my education, challenged me to grow professionally, and demonstrated the impact that compassionate, patient-centered care can have on people's lives. Their support inspired me to become a Nurse Practitioner, and I strive to provide the same encouragement and care to my patients and colleagues.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family, cheering on my children in their activities, and making the most of everyday moments together. We enjoy camping every weekend, traveling to new destinations for cheerleading and baseball, and visiting our happy place, Disney World.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been witnessing the transformation that occurs when patients feel truly heard and supported. I recall caring for a patient who had been struggling with multiple chronic health conditions and had become discouraged by frequent hospitalizations. By taking the time to listen to their concerns, providing education they could understand, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and creating a realistic treatment plan together, we were able to improve both their health and their confidence in managing their condition. At follow-up visits, the patient reported feeling healthier, more engaged in their care, and having significantly fewer complications. That experience reinforced for me that high-quality healthcare extends beyond diagnosing and treating illness—it is built on communication, collaboration, compassion, and empowering patients to take an active role in their health.
My educational journey was not a traditional one. I progressed from an associate degree to a bachelor's degree and ultimately a Master of Science in Nursing, all while balancing a full-time career and raising my three children alongside my husband. That experience taught me resilience, discipline, and the value of continuous professional growth.
