Throughout my career in social work, my clients and their families have been the most influential force shaping my professional path. While working in the field, I often encountered families who struggled to meaningfully connect with clinical providers and access consistent mental health care. Many barriers—including system complexity, communication gaps, and limited resources—made it difficult for families to receive the support they needed.
These experiences deeply influenced me and motivated me to become part of the solution rather than only a support within the system. I made the decision to further my education and pursue my LMSW licensure to strengthen my ability to provide more direct, clinical-level support and improve continuity of care for the individuals and families I serve.
This path has reinforced my commitment to advocacy, accessibility, and effective systems navigation. It has shaped my approach to practice as one that bridges gaps between families, schools, and behavioral health providers, ensuring that clients are not only referred to services but are also supported in successfully engaging with and benefiting from them. Ultimately, my clients’ needs and resilience continue to be the driving influence behind my professional growth and dedication to equitable, person-centered care.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and being outdoors. I find it important to stay grounded through activities like hiking, camping, and other forms of physical exercise. I also value practices like meditation, which help me maintain balance, manage stress, and stay present both personally and professionally.
While working in school-based social work, I have seen how timely, coordinated healthcare can significantly improve outcomes for children and families. When students are connected to appropriate behavioral health services and families receive support in navigating care, I’ve observed improvements in emotional regulation, engagement in school, and overall functioning. These experiences have reinforced the importance of accessible, integrated, and family-centered healthcare in promoting early intervention and long-term well-being.
My education was unique in that I was able to complete my social work training while actively working in the field, which allowed me to immediately apply theory to practice in clinical, school-based, and community settings. This helped me build strong skills in real-time systems navigation, family engagement, and strengths-based intervention while growing as a clinically informed LMSW.
