My mom is a Family Nurse Practitioner and she has been the most influential person to me in my career path. She cares about her patients and their goals, and has shown me by example how to be a compassionate and hard-working healthcare provider in the constantly changing field of medicine.
During my time working as a patient care assistant in a pediatric hospital prior to becoming a physician assistant, I witnessed the importance of teamwork and communication amongst the entire healthcare team to provide quality patient care. Every patient has different goals and needs, and being part of a team who actively worked together to individualize care plans for every patient was very empowering.
I had the opportunity to work in rural Alabama while in PA school for my pediatrics and women’s health rotations where I learned how to provide better comprehensive care for patients who otherwise did not have access to other healthcare providers.
