Babies can get protection from RSV before they’re even born.
Did you know you can protect your baby from RSV before birth?
RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a contagious virus that can look like the common cold in most adults, but can cause severe symptoms in infants, especially those under 6 months old.
Thanks to a new RSV vaccine, the Neighborhood Health Center OB-GYN team has been able to vaccinate pregnant patients in late term pregnancy (32-36 weeks). This immunity is passed on to your baby before the baby is even born, and this protection lasts for your baby's first 6 months of life - when they are most at risk of RSV.
If you are curious about the RSV vaccine during pregnancy, or the RSV vaccine available to infants following birth, talk with your Neighborhood OB-GYN provider or pediatrician.
