The first ever expansion of services at Neighborhood Health Center was the addition of a dental department. That was in 1988, a year after Neighborhood first opened its door to internal medicine, pediatrics and OB-GYN patients. Today, Neighborhood offers dental services at four of its six sites, including the original site inside the Northwest Buffalo Community Center. Because the Northwest location is the oldest, it is most in need of upgrades. Some of the equipment and furnishings in the dental suite have been in use ever since the 1988 expansion.

Upgrades are coming, thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. The funds will help pay for new equipment in the Northwest site's dental operatories, including new dental chairs and lighting, a 3D pan machine, and improved lab and sterilization equipment.  

“These improvement will help us better serve our dental patients,” said Dr. Chad Kahler, dental director at Neighborhood Health Center. “Good dental care can be life changing for patients in a positive way. At Neighborhood, we believe good quality dental care should be accessible and affordable for everyone. We're grateful to Delta Dental for believing in us and making this investment.”
