We are celebrating 35 years of serving the community.
Our theme for this anniversary milestone is “Welcome to the Possible.” This theme reflects the determination of our founders who recognized what was possible and made it happen, and our forward vision of building a healthy and equitable Western New York where all enjoy high quality and individualized healthcare.
In the mid-1980s, Riverside and Black Rock residents, many of them mothers of young children, appealed to government leaders for affordable healthcare options in the neighborhood. This effort led to the Northwest Buffalo Community Health Care Center opening inside the Northwest Buffalo Community Center in 1987 offering pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, and internal medicine.
Financial Struggles and Refocus
In the mid to late 1990s, the Northwest Buffalo Community Health Care Center faced financial struggles which forced the organization to make sacrifices and refocus in order to continue the mission of serving the Western New York community with quality healthcare.
Mission and Impact
Today, Neighborhood cares for more than 29,000 unique patients with a patient-centered approach that is respectful of individual patients’ preferences and needs.

In addition to providing care, Neighborhood also provides jobs in the communities it serves. We strive to be a kind, respectful and rewarding workplace for a diverse workforce.
As Neighborhood continues to grow with an addition to our Mattina location set to open in summer 2023, we reaffirm our commitment to impactful healthcare provided by kind people so Western New Yorkers can achieve their dreams and goals.
